NEW DELHI: In the wake of a tragic incident that claimed the lives of three UPSC aspirants and led to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) sealing 13 IAS coaching academies, controversial tutor (PSIR EXPERT) Shubhra Ranjan made an appearance at the protest site in Rajender Nagar on Tuesday. The students had launched a hunger strike, pressing five key demands, but Ranjan’s arrival drew attention to her academy.

Shubhra Ranjan had received a warning notice in February 2024 from the MCD, instructing her to cease any misuse of the premises and to refrain from conducting activities contrary to the sanctioned use. Speaking to The New Indian, Ranjan sidestepped questions regarding her stance on the students’ demands. “I am not yet equipped to provide solutions but for now, I can offer moral support,” she stated.

Ranjan two days ago, had courted controversy over her comments equating Lord Ram with the Mughal emperor Akbar, sparking widespread backlash. During her visit, she made a controversial statement, suggesting that “this incident can happen anywhere in Delhi.” She urged students to take action rather than protest, saying, “Instead of protesting and complaining, students should start cleaning the roads themselves.”

When pressed on whether she would advocate for other academies facing similar scrutiny, Ranjan clarified that her responsibilities do not extend beyond her institution. “I am not accountable for other academies; I can only be responsible for my own,” she remarked.

Ranjan’s academy, located in the affluent area of Rajender Nagar, has been thrust into the spotlight as the protest and scrutiny of coaching institutions continue. Few days back Ranjan got herself into a controversy. Her tutorial video went viral where she compared lord Ram with a Mughal Emperor. Reportedly, in the video, Ranjan commented, Ram “does not show unlimited power.”This comment has infuriated the sentiments of many netizens where they question about the portrayal of historical and religious figures in educational content. They demanded an apology from her regarding the same.
