New Delhi: A recent health report prepared by medical staff has highlighted that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is experiencing significant weight loss and episodes of hypoglycemia. This revelation was made public by AAP Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh on Monday, who expressed concerns about Kejriwal’s deteriorating health.

Sanjay Singh responded to a health report claiming that Kejriwal had lost only 2 kilograms, contradicting AAP’s assertion that he had lost around 8 kilograms. Singh warned that Kejriwal’s ongoing weight loss could lead to severe consequences, including the risk of slipping into a coma.

Kejriwal’s medical report

The health report from Tihar Jail, where Kejriwal has been held, confirmed that he lost two kilograms from June 2 to July 14. The report noted that Kejriwal’s weight was 65 kilograms on April 4, 2024. After being released on interim bail on May 10, his weight dropped to 64 kilograms. Upon his surrender on June 2, he weighed 63.5 kilograms, and his current weight stands at 61.5 kilograms. The Senior Medical Officer attributed the weight loss to reduced food intake or low-calorie consumption.

The Tihar Jail authorities stated that Kejriwal is provided with prescribed or home-cooked food and is under regular assessment and treatment by the Medical Board of AIIMS and on-duty doctors at Central Jail No. 02. The Medical Board conducted a video consultation with Kejriwal, the jail’s medical staff, and Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal.

Another report from the jail’s medical staff mentioned that Kejriwal is a diagnosed and follow-up case of Type-II Diabetes Mellitus, Chronic Cough/Bronchitis, and Chronic Constipation. He has been experiencing continuous weight loss, body aches, weakness, and episodes of hypoglycemia.

The AAP has raised alarms about Kejriwal’s continuous weight loss, fearing he might slip into a coma while sleeping. As of now, Tihar Jail officials have not commented officially on the matter.

This developing situation raises concerns about Kejriwal’s health and the measures being taken to ensure his well-being while in custody.
