CM Yogi announces awards of Rs 1 lakh for Shravasti Flood rescue heroes

NEW DELHI:  Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored seven individuals for their courageous efforts during the recent Shravasti flood rescue. On Thursday, he commended five PAC soldiers and two civilians, announcing commendation certificates and a reward of Rs 1 lakh each for their bravery and timely actions.

11 people were trapped in floodwaters suddenly released from Nepal into the villages of Mohanpur Bhartha and Kevatan Purwa in the Gram Panchayat Gajobhari of Jamunha Tehsil, Shravasti on July 7, Sunday. The swift and composed response of Rekha Devi and the courageous guidance of Ram Ujagar played a critical role in the successful rescue operation.

Rekha Devi, a worker from Bhartha Kevatanpurwa village, provided accurate and timely information to the administration without panicking, enabling authorities to grasp the severity of the situation quickly. Ram Ujagar, also from Bhartha Kevatanpurwa, bravely guided the PAC flood rescue team on their boat, ensuring they reached the stranded individuals efficiently.

The five PAC soldiers—Sonu Kumar, Amresh Kumar Saroj, Shubham Singh, Satish Kumar Yadav, and Manoj Kumar—executed a successful night rescue operation, demonstrating remarkable skill and bravery. Their efforts resulted in the safe rescue of all 11 trapped individuals.

 

 

Recognizing their valour, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presented commendation certificates to all seven heroes and announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh each. He praised their dedication and bravery, which were instrumental in preventing a potential tragedy.

The Chief Minister’s acknowledgement serves as a reminder of the critical role of timely information and courageous action in disaster situations. The coordinated efforts of Rekha Devi, Ram Ujagar, and the PAC soldiers exemplify the spirit of resilience and community support during crises.
