NEW DELHI: The sangeet ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant turned into a grand celebration of both love and national pride, as Nita Ambani, visibly moved, honoured the World Cup heroes from the Mumbai Indians family on stage. Captain Rohit Sharma, Surya Kumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya received thunderous applause from the audience, comprising family, friends, and cricketing stars alike.

Reflecting on the intense World Cup final and its dramatic conclusion, Nita Ambani shared the nation’s collective anxiety during India’s improbable victory. “No shouting is good enough, no screaming, no cheering is good enough”, she said as she called Rohit Sharma to join her on the stage.

“Tough Times don’t last but Tough People Do,” she quoted Hardik Pandya, as she welcomed him with applause.

Mukesh Ambani joined in the celebrations, drawing parallels between this victory and India’s euphoric 2011 World Cup win, emphasising the significance of the achievement. “You have done it again in 2024, all of India is very proud of you congratulations”, said Mukesh Ambani, echoing sentiments of national pride.

The presence of other cricketing stalwarts like Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Krunal Pandya, KL Rahul, and the legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni added to the festive atmosphere. Jasprit Bumrah, although unable to attend due to travel commitments, was also acknowledged among the Mumbai Indians teammates and other Indian cricketers relishing the occasion.
