India leads one with two wins in two games, totaling four points, & recently India’s last game was with Bangladesh and India defeated Bangladesh by 50 runs. Meanwhile, Australia holds second place with one win & one loss, giving them two points & they lost their previous game against Afghanistan by a surprising 21 runs. If the Australian team loses in this match would severely jeopardize their chances of qualifying for the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2024.
Ahead of Australia’s ICC T20 World Cup Super 8’s clash against India, Opener Usman Khawaja urged his team to move on from the shock defeat against Afghanistan & focus on the upcoming Indian challenge, while also heaping praise on the other rising Asian side, saying that they are often underestimated by people.
Afghanistan is a very strong team. People underestimate them. They should have beaten us in the last World Cup, but they dropped Maxwell a couple of times. It was not a surprise to me. If Afghanistan loses against Bangladesh, we still have a chance. We do not want to leave things to fate. When the pressure is on, Australia in the World Cup often comes out on top. But a T20I game against India is a game you do not want to miss. Khawaja told the media sources.
