Army thwarts infiltration attempt in Uri, eliminates two terrorists

SRINAGAR: The Army successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, resulting in the elimination of two terrorists.

A confrontation erupted between terrorists and security forces in the Uri sector on Saturday evening. The clash ensued when security forces initiated a search operation in the Bajrang-Uri sector, based on precise intelligence regarding the presence of infiltrating terrorists.

According to sources, the concealed terrorists opened fire on the security personnel, prompting a retaliatory response and triggering the firefight.

Meanwhile, the Army’s Chinar Corps, in a post on ‘X’, stated: “Based on specific intelligence inputs, an anti-infiltration operation was launched in the Uri sector. Contact was established with infiltrating terrorists, and operations are ongoing.”

An official reported that two terrorists are presumed dead. However, their bodies have not yet been recovered.

In related incidents, on June 19, two Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists were killed, and two security personnel were injured in a confrontation in the Rafiabad area of Baramulla district. On June 17, a local terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Aragam Bandipora.
