In an extraordinary display of resilience and determination, Maulik Patel, a single child from Ghatkopar, Mumbai, has achieved an outstanding score of 715 out of 720 in the NEET examination after battling cancer.
NEW DELHI: In an extraordinary display of resilience and determination, Maulik Patel, a single child from Ghatkopar, Mumbai, has achieved an outstanding score of 715 out of 720 in the NEET examination after battling cancer. Maulik, a student at Allen Career Institute, endured 23 chemotherapy sessions and 31 radiation treatments, overcoming significant health challenges to excel academically.

Maulik’s journey began in May 2022, when he started experiencing symptoms such as pain during urination and fever. Initially dismissing these symptoms as minor, his condition soon revealed a more severe diagnosis. Following a sonography and a biopsy, Maulik was diagnosed with sarcoma, a type of cancer, with a 10-centimeter tumor near his urinary bladder.
Despite undergoing two major surgeries and the possibility of losing his bladder, Maulik remained determined. His first surgery took place in June 2022, followed by rigorous chemotherapy sessions, which led to severe side effects, including hair loss and constipation. By October, after three chemotherapy sessions, a tumor of four centimeters still remained.
Maulik Patel’s inspiring journey to NEET success after battling cancer treatment continued with adjusted doses of chemotherapy until December 2022. Despite the grueling medical regimen, Maulik managed to take Allen’s preparatory tests in October and November. However, the second surgery in January 2023 revealed a still persistent tumor, leading to further chemotherapy and radiation.

By July In 2023, Maulik had undergone 31 radiation sessions, and by December, he was declared cancer-free. Throughout his treatment, he maintained his studies through online classes, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to his education. His perseverance paid off, as he scored 715 out of 720 in the NEET exam and 94.67% in the Maharashtra State Board exams.
Maulik, now aspiring to become an oncologist, aims to bring hope and happiness to other cancer patients. Reflecting on his journey, Maulik said, “I don’t give up. It is important to have courage; we will win only if we think to win.”
