NEW DELHI: The Samyukt Kisan Morcha, the outfit that is leading the farmers’ protest, on Saturday met in Sighu border and described the government’s decision to repeal the three farm laws as a “big victory” and said that it has formed a five member committee to speak to government on its demands of MSP.
Addressing the media after the farmers body meeting, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait said, “SKM has formed a five-member committee to talk to the government.”

Tikait said that the committee will be the authorised body to talk to the government.
The five member committee includes — Balbir Singh Rajewal, Shiv Kumar Kakka, Gurnam Singh Charuni, Yudhvir Singh and Ashok Dhawale.
It may be recalled that the government had reached out to the SKM informally on December 30 asking them to suggest five names for the committee.
Tikait also said that next meeting of the SKM is scheduled on December 7 to decide on the future course of the farmers protest.
The three contentious farm laws were repealed on the first day of Parliament’s Winter Session on November 29. The Bill to repeal the three farm laws were passed in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. President Ram Nath Kovind on December 1 signed the Bill to repeal the three farm laws, thus making these laws a history.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 19 on the occasion of Guru Purab had announced to repeal the three farm laws and said that the government will complete the procedure in the Winter Session.
Thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh have been camping at several borders of the national capital demanding the repealing of the three farm laws and also ensuring MSP of their produce since November 26 last year.
The farmer leaders have also demanded the government to provide compensation to the farmers families whose members died during the year long protest. The farmer leaders have also demanded the government ot quash the FIR registered against the farmers across the country for protesting against the three farm laws.
