The New Indian Team visited three such outlets in Connaught Place, Delhi to check the situation on ground.
CCD – Cafe Coffee Day
Manager and Employees present at the outlet, initially refused having any information regarding the offer. “We’ve recieved no such information,” said the Manager, refusing to be named. The Journalist present then, talked to 2-3 senior managers of CCD on call. After about half an hour, the CCD management did a 180° turn and completely changed their stand. Later on the manager said, Yes we’ve received the information regarding the discount. We’ll be providing the discount by checking the inked fingers of the voters.”

One of the customers at CCD on the condition of anonymity gladly displayed his inked finger. Refusing to have any information about the offer, the customer said, “I’m not aware of any such offer. I’ve even got the bill now. So can’t do anything.”
Other customers refused to talk about the offer.
Madras Coffee House
Madras Coffee House, a 3rd generation outlet running since 1935, had posters displayed outside their outlet, giving 20% discount to all those who voted today. The poster read – Vote & Dine. Your voice deserves a treat. Cast your vote on 25th May, and get 20% off.
Anubhav Nanda, the owner of the outlet confirmed having received the information regarding the discount. He said, “We saw the NDMC’s tweet and subsequently we kept a 20% discovery for all those voting today in the elections.” Upon being asked the experience of customers after receiving the discount, “Some customers told us it’s a good initiative and they were indeed elated after recieving the discount.” Commenting upon the relevance of such a move, he further said, “The main motive of this move is to encourage voters to go out and vote.”

Rohan, a customer at the Madras Coffee House denied being aware of any such discounts. Upon being informed by the New Indian journalist of the same, he became elated and said, ” I’ve voted today and if available, I’ll certainly be availing the discount.” Upon being enquired about the relevance of such discounts for the voters, he said, “Such schemes can’t motivate people. I easily receive such discounts from Swiggy.”
Chayos
The manager at the Chayos outlet at Connaught Place said there’s an alternative discount for voters. She said, “Tere’s no straight away 10% discount. But, we have a special offer for the people who voted today. On a purchase of not below than Rs 499, we’ll provide them a free complimentary cake.
