Smriti Irani files nomination, revealing assets worth crores

AMETHI: Union Minister and BJP MP Smriti Irani has filed her nomination papers from the Amethi Lok Sabha seat on Monday, unveiling the staggering wealth owned by her and her husband, Zubin Irani.

The declaration includes ownership of both agricultural and non-agricultural land, commercial and non-commercial buildings, as well as various movable assets in both Amethi and Mumbai. In the affidavit, the combined assets held by her and her husband amount to many crores.

Irani, a well-known figure in Indian households, also disclosed that she is not a graduate, with her degree course remaining incomplete. The affidavit also revealed a loan of approximately 16 lakhs 55 thousand rupees.

The movable assets of Irani and her husband, Zubin, were valued at more than 3 crores. Zubin, in particular, declared ownership of two commercial buildings, two residential buildings, 13 agricultural lands, and one non-agricultural land, with their cumulative value surpassing crores. Similarly, Irani and her husband also own gold assets worth lakhs.

Additionally, Zubin also owns other agricultural and livestock assets worth more than 5 crores. His possessions also included three motor vehicles, one boat, and two motorbikes.

Smriti Irani’s personal assets included an MG Hector valued at approximately 27 lakhs. Furthermore, both Irani and her husband disclosed investments in multiple shares.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi lost his seat to Irani, which is crucial for Congress. Before the 2019 defeat, Amethi was considered a stronghold of the Congress.
