NEW DELHI: Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, expressed concern over her husband’s treatment during his Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody, stating that he is facing harassment and bullying. She asserted that such dictatorial behaviour will not endure and the public will respond to it. Sunita also mentioned that Arvind Kejriwal is unwell, with his sugar levels down. Her statement came during Kejriwal’s hearing in Rouse Avenue Court.

She said, ”He is being harassed a lot, being bullied. This dictatorship will not last. The public will answer this. He is unwell, and his sugar level is down.” Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi extended Arvind Kejriwal’s ED custody by four days until April 1. The ED had requested a seven-day extension in connection with the liquor policy case, which has since been scrapped. Kejriwal responded to media queries during his court appearance, labelling the situation as a political conspiracy and expressing confidence in the public’s response.

AAP leaders Atishi and Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal were present in court for the remand hearing. Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court dismissed a plea seeking Kejriwal’s removal from the Chief Minister post, citing no grounds for judicial intervention. Amidst the courtroom drama, Arvind Kejriwal denounced what he called a political conspiracy aimed at dismantling the AAP.

He asserted that his arrest lacked legal basis and highlighted the absence of any case against him. Kejriwal also questioned the legitimacy of his arrest based on witness statements related to the excise policy case.

During the proceedings, Kejriwal contended that the ED’s motive was to suppress the Aam Aadmi Party and suggested that documents would reveal the misuse of funds in the Goa elections. He maintained that the money under scrutiny had no connection to the liquor scam and defended his hiring of prominent lawyers for his defence.

The ED countered, emphasizing that the matter was still under investigation and not yet at the trial stage. The court acknowledged the objection, suggesting Kejriwal provide a written statement if he wished to elaborate further.
