NEW DELHI: In a major jolt to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy Scam, the Delhi High Court on Thursday refused to give him relief in the matter.
Kejriwal was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to join the probe. However, Kejriwal skipped nine summons in a row calling the move of the ED as an illegal act.
On Thursday, the ED placed all the files and evidence related to Delhi Liquor /Excise scam against Kejriwal, before Delhi High Court. After this the High Court refused to grant any relief to Kejriwal.

During the argument, ASG Raju who was appearing for ED, stated that the plea of Kejriwal should not be heard, as the relief not received yesterday (on Wednesday) couldn’t be obtained by filing this application. The judge remarked that this plea was filed only after a date was given for tomorrow’s hearing.
ASG mentioned that this hearing was not admissible. “When a case is not fit for hearing, you cannot proceed with any application. If the main petition itself is not fit for hearing, then how can a hearing be conducted on any application filed in this petition?,”ASG said.

ED reiterated that they have issued a personal summons to Kejriwal for interrogation. ASG stated that today they are summoning Kejriwal as an individual. However, anything can happen in the future, and they may summon him in a different capacity, but today they have summoned him personally.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi who was appearing for Kejriwal said that Kejriwal was ready to join the probe of ED won’t arrest him. But, Delhi High Court refused to grant him any relief from the arrest. Now, Arvind Kejriwal may move to the Supreme Court seeking relief.
