NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Opposition during the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national convention in New Delhi on Sunday. He accused leaders of the INDIA bloc of aiming to secure prominent positions for their children within their parties.

“What is their (INDIA alliance) objective in politics? PM Modi aims at self-reliant India. Sonia Gandhi’s aim is to make Rahul Gandhi the prime minister, Pawar Saheb’s aim is to make his daughter the chief minister, Mamata Banerjee’s aim is to make her nephew the chief minister, MK Stalin’s aim is to make his son the chief minister, Lalu Yadav’s aim is to make his son the chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray’s aim is to make his son the chief minister and Mulayam Singh Yadav ensured that his son becomes the chief minister,” Amit Shah stated.

Shah criticised parties for focusing on familial power and questioned their commitment to serving the poor. He also accused Congress of declining an invitation to the Ram temple consecration ceremony due to appeasement politics.

Amit Shah alleged that the INDIA bloc, especially Congress, has undermined democracy in India by promoting corruption, nepotism, appeasement, and casteism. He credited PM Modi for eliminating these issues and bringing development in the last decade.

“They coloured the democracy of the country with corruption, nepotism, appeasement, and casteism. Such nepotistic parties were engaged in making a democratic arrangement to ensure that public opinion never emerged independently. PM Modi achieved development in 10 years by eliminating corruption, nepotism, appeasement, and casteism,” Shah said at the national convention.

Under Modi’s leadership, Shah claimed India has witnessed significant progress, particularly in empowering marginalised communities neglected by other parties.

“The Congress and the INDIA Alliance tried to use Dalits, Adivasis, and the backward classes as their vote bank, but for the first time, these communities were given their due by the BJP government,” he asserted.

He also expressed confidence in the BJP’s ability to eradicate terrorism and Naxalism in the country’s third term under Modi’s governance.

“Terrorism, Naxalism nearing end, the country will be free of them in Modi government 3.0,” Shah affirmed.
