NEW DELHI: In an unusual incident in Faridkot in Punjab, a man attempted to impersonate his girlfriend during a multi-purpose health workers’ exam held on January 7 at the DAV Public School in Kotkapura by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences.
The man, identified as Angrez Singh, aimed to take the examination on behalf of his girlfriend Paramjit. However, officials swiftly detected the impersonation, leading to a subsequent complaint filed with the local police.
Angrez went to great lengths in his endeavour, using counterfeit voter and Aadhar cards to establish his identity as Paramjit. The trick, however, unravelled when his fingerprints did not align with those of the genuine candidate on the biometric device.
Authorities have initiated legal action against Angrez, while Paramjit’s application to take the exam was rejected by the administration. The police are actively investigating the matter, with an assurance to take appropriate action following a thorough inquiry, as reported by India Today.
This incident echoes a similar occurrence in Mohali in Punjab, in 2011, where a graduate impersonated a candidate during class XII exams conducted by the Punjab School Education Board.
The peculiar nature of this incident has sparked reactions on social media, with netizens humorously referring to it as “relationship goals.” Some expressed admiration, with one user stating, “I am not settling for anything less now,” while another commented, “Pyaar me practical file waigrah bana deta, ye to alag level par chala gaya” (He has created a practical file in love; this has reached a different level).
Another user added humorously, “He is looking more original than the original one.”
