NEW DELHI: Communication breakdown persists between the Pakistan government and Baloch protesters, with the agitators alleging that not all individuals participating in the protest on the issue of Baloch people’s disappearances have been released, according to The Express Tribune. The impasse was highlighted in an official statement issued on Sunday night, revealing that the Islamabad Capital Police released over 250 people in the last three days following an order from Pakistan’s caretaker PM Anwarul Haq Kakar.

While the police spokesperson emphasised adherence to the committee’s directives, stating that “the majority of the 163 individuals undergoing judicial processes have been reunited with their loved ones and relatives,” the Baloch protesters outside Islamabad’s National Press Club remained unconvinced. The participants of the Balochistan Yakjehti Committee (BYC) march, continuing their protest, noted the lack of progress in discussions despite issuing a three-day ultimatum to the government for the release of those arrested during the march.

Amidst the ongoing standoff, TLP chief Saad Hussain Rizvi expressed solidarity with the protestors during a meeting on Sunday. Rizvi, acknowledging his party’s own experiences with crackdowns, empathized with the protesters’ situation. He strongly condemned enforced disappearances and advocated for presenting the accused in a court of law.

In response to the situation, the police urged the public to remain vigilant against misinformation and propaganda, emphasizing adherence to lawful activities. They reminded everyone that the law applies equally to all and encouraged reporting any suspicious activity through the Pucar-15 or ICT 15 mobile app.

As the dialogue between the government and Baloch protesters remains deadlocked, concerns persist over the release of all individuals involved in the protest and the broader issue of enforced disappearances. The situation underscores the challenges in addressing the grievances of the Baloch community and finding a resolution that satisfies both parties.
