NEW DELHI: On Sunday, Delhi Police officials revealed that the five individuals arrested in connection with the Parliament security breach had considered self-immolation.
It was also revealed that the intruders had planned to distribute pamphlets before setting out on their plan to infiltrate the Lok Sabha chamber using smoke canisters.

While talking to a news agency, a Delhi Police official revealed that the accused explored various impactful ways to convey their message to the government before deciding to infiltrate the Parliament. Among the ideas, the intruders were set to immolate themselves by covering their bodies with fireproof gel, while distributing pamphlets inside the Lok Sabha.

The accused ultimately arrived at the plan, bringing seven smoke cans to the Parliament premises.
Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D, two of the accused, jumped into the lower house’s chamber, releasing yellow smoke and shouting slogans during Zero Hour. Simultaneously, Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi, the other two intruders, released coloured smoke outside the Parliament, accompanied by slogans against unemployment.

The motive behind the breach, according to police sources, was to garner media attention, prompting the group to devise a plan to enter the Parliament during a session.
The fifth accused, Lalit Jha, allegedly circulated videos of the protest on social media. Delhi Police sources disclosed that the accused had conducted a thorough search of the Parliament area on Google while also studying old videos of its security detail.

The accused were using the Signal app to communicate with each other to evade identification by law enforcement.
The Special Cell is planning to question Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Pratap Simha, who had approved visitor passes for Sharma and Manoranjan. Further investigations are still underway.
