33 awards to Television, Radio, Print Media for coverage on yoga

On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, celebrated on June 21 every year, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has announced the third edition of Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman 2024.

NEW DELHI: On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, celebrated on June 21 every year, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has announced the third edition of Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman 2024.

Recognizing the significant role and responsibility of the media in spreading the message of Yoga in India and abroad, the Ministry established the inaugural Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman (AYDMS) in June 2019.

Under the Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman 2024, thirty-three Sammans will be given out under three categories viz Print, Television, and Radio in twenty-two Indian languages and English.

The three categories includes Best Media Coverage in Yoga in Newspaper, Best Media Coverage in Yoga in Electronic Media (TV), & Best Media Coverage in Yoga in Electronic Media (Radio)

The inaugural edition of the awards was presented on January 7th, 2020. The Sammans for the AYDMS 2nd Edition 2023 have not yet been conferred. Both last year’s AYDMS (2nd Edition) winners and this year’s AYDMS (3rd Edition) winners will be honored together this time.

The Samman, comprising a special medal/plaque/trophy and a citation, is recommended by an independent jury. The awards are open to all Media Houses/Companies engaged in Print Media, Radio, and Television having registration/permission of the Ministry of I&B.

According to the guidelines, media houses can submit nomination details in a specified format, accompanied by relevant clippings of articles published or audio/visual content broadcast between June 12th, 2024, and June 25th, 2024.

The last date for entries is 8th July 2024. Detailed guidelines can be found on the websites of the Press Information Bureau.

The International Day of Yoga has kindled a mass movement aimed at promoting health and well-being worldwide. It has captured considerable attention, turning it into a global phenomenon. The award aims to acknowledge the significant power and responsibility that the media wields in promoting this ancient practice and its multitude of benefits.
