NEW DELHI: In a significant development, popular YouTuber Manish Kashyap was granted bail by the Patna High Court in two separate cases marking his imminent release from jail in Bihar, on Wednesday.

According to sources, the bail documents from the High Court will be presented in front of a Civil Court, following which the bail bond is scheduled to be filled.

The release process is anticipated to commence on Thursday, following the successful acquisition of bail in financial crimes from the Economic Offences Unit (EOU). Subsequent approvals were also received from the Civil Court and Bhetiya Court. Kashyap had been booked at Beur Jail in the capital.

The legal saga unfolded when Manish Kashyap surrendered on March 18 in connection to a case involving fake videos related to violence against Bihar migrants in Tamil Nadu. Following his surrender, he spent time in both Madurai Jail and Beur Jail, while the legal proceedings were ongoing.

The troubles for Kashyap began with the Bihar Police’s EOU filing an FIR against him in the case of sharing misleading videos. Subsequently, raids commenced, prompting Kashyap to go into hiding for several days.

The police had then initiated a search which led to his surrender, during a raid at his residence.

On March 30, the Tamil Nadu Police took him into transit remand. However, in August, he was brought back to Patna. Following this, the Bettiah Court ruled in favour of his continued detention in Bihar’s jail.
