The film transported audiences to 2022 in Busan, South Korea, where RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook graced the stage during Busan’s World Expo 2030 bid. The Asiad Main Stadium hosted an electrifying concert that drew in approximately 50,000 attendees. Viewers had the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in this unforgettable experience, becoming integral parts of the enthusiastic crowd. Whether they were seasoned K-pop concertgoers or attending for the first time, they were in for a treat as the group delivered a dynamic performance featuring 19 songs. From chart-toppers like ‘Dynamite’ and ‘Butter’ to fan favourites such as ‘RUN,’ ‘MIC Drop,’ and ‘Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment),’ the film captured the essence of this extraordinary event.

2. Jimin- ‘Face’

‘Face’ is Jimin’s debut studio album, released on March 24, 2023, through Big Hit Music. The album, which primarily falls under pop, hip-hop, and R&B genres, features five songs, all co-written by Jimin, and one instrumental. Inspired by the emotional impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Jimin personally and professionally, the album explores themes of loneliness, self-discovery, and freedom.

Upon its release, ‘Face ’ set domestic records by selling over 1 million copies on its opening day and surpassing 1.45 million sales in its first week. Jimin made history on the Hanteo Chart as the first solo artist to achieve this feat. The album debuted at number one on the Circle Album Chart. Internationally, it achieved success by topping the Oricon Albums and Digital Albums charts and Billboard Japan’s Hot Albums chart in Japan, making Jimin the first solo artist to debut at number one on both Oricon album charts in 2023.

In the United States, ‘Face’ debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, marking the highest-charting album by a South Korean solo artist in Billboard chart history. The album also reached the top 10 in various countries, including Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Lithuania, Switzerland, and New Zealand.

3. Suga- ‘D-Day’

Suga released his debut solo album, ‘D-Day,’ on April 21. The album includes singles like ‘People Pt. 2’ and ‘Haegeum,’ and debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, marking Suga’s first top-10 entry on the chart. This achievement tied him with his bandmate Jimin as the highest-charting South Korean solo artist in the history of the Billboard 200.

Accompanying the album release was a Disney documentary titled ‘Suga: Road to D-Day,’ which chronicles the creation of the project and follows the rapper on a music road trip across different countries. Suga also hosted a five-episode radio show called ‘Agust D Radio ” weekly on Apple Music in promotion of D-Day, with the premiere episode airing on April 17.

Suga embarked on the Suga Agust D Tour, his first solo world tour, the following week, with performances in the US, followed by visits to Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, and Japan. On October 6, 2023, Suga’s song from Agust D, ‘The Last,’ surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify, solidifying his position as the fifth leading Korean artist with the most songs over 100 million streams.

On August 2, 2023, it was reported that V had collaborated with NewJeans creative director Min Hee-jin for his studio project. Big Hit Music officially announced the album on August 7 through social media, sharing a visualiser that revealed the album title and the six featured tracks. According to hints dropped by Big Hit, the album was anticipated to showcase an ‘R&B sound’ with ‘elements of pop,’ featuring diverse styles ranging from R&B (‘Blue,’ ‘Love Me Again,’ and ‘For Us’) to a ’70s romantic soul style’ on the focus track ‘Slow Dancing.’ Each track was set to be accompanied by its music video.

In an accompanying press release, Big Hit expressed that V would present ‘amazing new performances’ and would make multiple appearances in conjunction with the album release. V, upon the announcement, conveyed his desire to ‘deliver’ box sets of the album to his fans with ‘lots of love.’

5. Jungkook- ‘Golden’

‘Golden’ is the debut studio album by Jungkook, released on November 3, 2023. The primarily pop record includes guest appearances by Jack Harlow, Major Lazer, Latto, and DJ Snake. Big Hit Music announced the 11-track album on October 3, revealing the tracklist on October 15, which featured previously released songs ‘Seven’ and ‘3D.’ The album’s theme revolves around the ‘golden moments’ of Jungkook as a solo artist, with a press release dubbing him the ‘Golden Maknae’ due to his unique timbre as the youngest member of BTS.

In promotion of the album, Jungkook delivered special stage performances and made various appearances alongside the release. ‘Golden’ achieved global success, entering music charts in 25 countries and topping charts in South Korea, Belgium, France, Lithuania, and Japan. It reached the top 10 in 14 countries, including Australia, France, and Germany. In the United Kingdom, it debuted at number three, becoming the highest-charting album by a Korean solo artist.

In the United States, ‘Golden’ debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 with 210,200 equivalent album units, including 164,800 pure sales, making it the top-selling album of the week. It also accumulated 29,800 SEA units and 15,600 track equivalent units. As of November 2023, the album has sold over 2.4 million copies worldwide.
