NEW DELHI: Prime ministers and presidents of dozens of countries from across the world rushed to congratulate the people of India and ISRO for the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 on the lunar surface on Wednesday.
Among them were leaders of Russia, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, European Commission, Bhutan, Nepal, and Maldives.
In his congratulatory message to President Droupadi Muru and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Chandrayaan-3 lander Vikram’s soft touch down on the south pole of the moon serves as a testament to the impressive progress made by the country in science and technology.
“This is a big step forward in the exploration of outer space and, of course, a testament to the impressive progress made by India in the scientific and technological sphere,” Putin said.
He further stated: “I request you to convey my sincere congratulations and wishes for new achievements to the leadership and team of the Indian Space Research Organization.”

Spain Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said that India’s achievement opens up new horizons for humanity. “This mission is another proof of the power of science and of the great opportunities it offers us to keep promoting scientific progress and research,” he said in his congratulatory message.

UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan tweeted, “The successful lunar landing of India’s Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft represents a significant leap for collective scientific progress. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi and the people of India for this historic achievement in the service of humankind.”
