LAKHIMPUR KHERI/LUCKNOW: In an exclusive conversation with the New Indian, Additional DGP Law and Order Prashant Kumar on Thursday said that as a part of their investigation, the viral videos doing the rounds on social media in connection with Lakhimpur Kheri violence will be sent to the forensic lab to check its authenticity.
Assuring that no guilty would be spared, Kumar said, “whosoever is found involved in the violent incident that took place in Lakhimpur Kheri, would be brought to books”.
Mere hours after Kumar spoke to The New Indian (TNI) about making the first arrest in the high-profile case soon, UP Police confirmed that have arrested two men — Luvkush and Ashish Pandey — who were in one of the SUVs that allegedly mowed down farmers.
Kumar had told TNI that a special investigation team was constituted to nab those responsible behind the killings of eight people including farmers last Sunday.
A specially formed SIT is formed to probe this incident and has the mandate to investigate every conceivable angle. Action will be initiated on the basis of the evidence collected during the probe
When asked about the allegations against the son of the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni being involved in the incident, he said “the matter is being investigated.”
He also said political leaders were prevented from going to Lakhimpur Kheri as the focus of UP Police was to ensure peace first, control the emerging law and order situation and also complete the mandatory formalities that would be needed during the investigation. “We are not stopping politicians but they should not assemble in large numbers.”

As the storm over the deadly Lakhimpur Kheri incident rages on, couple of videos allegedly shot at the incident spot have gone viral on social media, regarding which he said “whoever has any form of evidence can report it to a mobile number and e-mail id that has been made public.”
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday pasted notice outside the residence of MoS Ajay Kumar Mishra in Lakhimpur Kheri, asking his son Ashish Mishra to appear before it on Oct 8 in connection with the violence.
