NEW DELHI: US President Joe Biden faces a significant challenge ahead of the 2024 elections as his son, Hunter Biden, has been found guilty in a drug and gun abuse case. This marks the first instance in history where a court in the United States has convicted a sitting President’s child.
Hunter Biden, a Yale-trained lawyer and artist, was convicted on three charges related to purchasing a handgun in 2018 while he was addicted to crack cocaine. He was accused of providing false information about his drug use when obtaining a gun license, a violation of US firearm laws. Despite his high-profile status and the severity of the charges, experts suggest he is unlikely to serve jail time as a first-time offender. Instead, he may receive probation and community service.
