JAIPUR: In a shocking turn of events, Rohit Godara, a notorious gangster based in Canada, has openly admitted to orchestrating the murder of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena national president Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi at his residence in Jaipur on Tuesday.

Godara, who has been linked to various criminal activities and has over 34 cases registered against him in India, asserted that Gogamedi was targeted because he supported their adversaries. Taking to social media, he posted, “I am Rohit Godara Kapursari, brother of Goldie Brar. Today we take full responsibility for the murder of Sukhdev Gogamedi. He (Gogamedi) used to back our enemies.”

The incident unfolded when two unidentified assailants shot Gogamedi in broad daylight while having tea at his Jaipur residence. The Karni Sena president succumbed to his injuries, while two others were wounded in the attack. A video of the incident circulated widely, prompting Godara to publicly claim responsibility.

Known to have connections with gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, Godara was previously named in the FIR related to the murder of rapper Siddhu Moosewala. Police records indicate that Godara was involved in running extortion rackets in the state, demanding substantial sums, reportedly reaching Rs 17 crore, from businesspeople.

In 2022, he faced charges as one of the prime suspects in the murder of gangster Raju Thehat in Sikar. This marked the first instance where Godara publicly acknowledged responsibility for a murder via social media.

Earlier in the same year, Godara managed to escape New Delhi and sought refuge in Dubai, using a fake passport under the alias Pawan Kumar. Following his escape, an Interpol Red Notice was issued against him, highlighting the international dimensions of his criminal activities. Authorities are now intensifying efforts to bring Godara to justice for his involvement in the heinous crime.
