Who is Baby Ariha? Why are her parents pleading to Indian govt?

Social media is abuzz with campaigns for Ariha Shah’s release these days. Who is Ariha Shah? What are her parents pleading Germany for? Ariha was taken away from her parents by German ‘child protective services’ in 2021. Their fault: Ariha’s grandmother hurt the baby by mistake.  She has been kept at a foster home in Berlin. Berlin child care authorities have filed a case for termination of parental rights of her father. Since September 2021, her parents have been fighting a legal battle to regain her custody. Rani Mukherjee’s film Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway’s has now given hope to Ariha parents. Ariha was born in Germany during her father stay on work visa. Native of Ahmedabad, her parents sought Indian government’s help. When asked about their plea, MEA refused to comment on Feb 25
