A show by comedian Vir Das was cancelled in Bengaluru after protests erupted in the area by Hindu Janajagruthi Samiti.

The group alleged that the show would have insulted Hindu religion.

On November 11, HJS filed a police complaint where they wrote: "It is not right to allow such a controversial person to hold such a program in a communally sensitive area like Bangalore. When Karnataka is already facing many law and order problems due to communal incidents, such events could vitiate law and order."

Das courted controversy over a monologue he delivered as part of his performance in the US, with many on social media calling him out for "insulting India".

He released a video after the cancellation of the show, tagging it #TrustTheAudience pointing at the problem of assuming his show is insulting.

In November 2021, Vir Das In the Two Indias monologue in a United States show, described two contrasting faces of the country and referred to many controversial topics like, Delhi gang-rape to the farmer protests to pollution.
