Sanjita Chanu, weightlifter from India who has won two Commonwealth Games gold medals, has been banned for four years by the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) for failing a drug test.
The test, conducted during the National Games in Gujarat in 2022, found that Sanjita had used a banned substance, Drostanolone Metabolite.
As a result of the ban, Sanjita will be stripped of the silver medal she won at the National Games.

This is not the first time Sanjita has been embroiled in a doping controversy.
In 2018, she was banned by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) after testing positive for testosterone, but the charge was later dropped due to "non-conformities" in the handling of her sample.

Sanjita has the option to appeal the decision, but has not yet indicated whether she will do so.
