Vivek Oberoi, 20 years after his controversial 2003 interview, has finally opened up about the issues of bullying and lobbying in Bollywood.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, the actor expressed his relief at having survived the "trial by fire" he went through and acknowledged that not everyone is as fortunate as him.
He talked about the "unnecessary" things he had to endure, including the "lobbies" and "repressive stories" that are prevalent in the industry, which he referred to as the "dark side."
Vivek shared that he has personally experienced the frustration, exhaustion, and fatigue that come with it.
However, he also mentioned that he channeled his energy into philanthropy and business as a way of moving forward.
Vivek praised Priyanka Chopra's recent statements about finding a new space and exploring new opportunities, which he found inspiring.
He acknowledged that all the negative practices in Bollywood can hinder the growth of young talents at the beginning of their careers
He is glad that people are now speaking up against such practices in the industry.
He recalled that when he spoke up about similar issues in the past, he was discouraged by his well-wishers who treated it like a family secret.
He criticized this approach, stating that if no one raises their voice against abuse, it will never stop.
