Venkatesh Iyer dedicates his maiden IPL century to assistant coach Abhishek Nayar after scoring a scintillating 104 off 51 balls in KKR's match against Mumbai Indians.
Iyer suffered a long injury lay-off due to a twisted ankle and underwent surgery followed by months of rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
Iyer smacked nine sixes and six fours during his innings, but it wasn't enough as Mumbai Indians won the match by five wickets chasing 186 at the Wankhede Stadium.
Iyer credits Abhishek Nayar for working on his batting and approach towards the game and Chandu sir for his tactics, which are now at an international level.
Iyer mentions that he had to ease into the role of new No.3 given that KKR's regular skipper Shreyas Iyer is injured.
Iyer also praises MI's batting performance, saying they outbatted KKR, and MI's Tim David expresses happiness with Suryakumar Yadav's form and praises Iyer for his century.
