Tumbbad producer Anand Gandhi watched Kantara and tweeted his opinion on December 3 saying, “Kantara is nothing like Tumbbad.”

He added, “My idea behind Tumbbad was to use the horror as an allegory of toxic masculinity and parochialism. Kantara is a celebration of these.”

Another comment read, “Your understanding of Indian society, masculinity and Dharma is pretty parochial.”.
