If attacked by India Pakistan will defend the motherland and fight back, says Pakistan’s new army chief Asim Munir.

Munir was visiting the troops in frontline areas in Rakhchikri Sector of the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday for the first time.

He said he is unhappy with the “highly irresponsible statements from Indian leadership on Gilgit Baltistan and Jammu and Kashmir recently.”

"Any misconception resulting into a misadventure will always be met with the full might of our armed forces backed by a resilient nation," he said.

General Munir took over the reigns from General Qamar Javed Bajwa on November 24 after the latter was accused of his family amassing illegal wealth during his two three-year terms.

Munir during his visit in the frontline area was brief on the current situation along the LoC border.

India and Pakistan’s already strained ties were further affected after India abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution, revoking the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcating the State into two Union Territories on August 5, 2019.
