Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings steps down as CEO

Amidst soaring numbers of subscribers in Netflix, Hastings stepped down, ending a two-decade long leadership.

US streaming giant Netflix has more than 230 million global subscribers.

In spite of a bumper fourth quarter earning. Netflix in a letter said, "2022 was a tough year”.

"Our board has been discussing succession planning for many years (even founders need to evolve!)" Hastings said in a blog post.

Hastings is leaving the everyday control of Netflix to his two longtime associates Chief Operating Officer Greg Peters and Ted Sarandos.
