Rashtriya Janata Dal’s patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav’s second daughter Rohini Acharya will be donating her kidney to her father for his operation.

Acharya is a daring woman as she will now become a "living kidney donor."

Living kidney donation has various health risks, like, pain, infection (such as pneumonia or wound infection), blood clot, reaction to anaesthesia and even death)

There are various Bollywood celebrities who have pledged to donate their organs after death, which will make them “deceased organ donor”.

Big B has pledged to donate his eyes

Priyanka Chopra, during an event organised by the Army Organ Revival and Transplantation Authority, said, “I hope that when I die I can make a difference by donating my body.”

Miss World 1994, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan tied up with the Eye Bank Association of India, and pledged to donate her eyes.

Salman Khan too has said in a Being Human organisation event that he will be happy to donate his bone marrow. 

Aamir Khan on the occasion of Maharashtra Cadaver Organ Donation Day in 2014, pledged to donate every organ of his body- Kidney, lungs, liver, and eyes.

Rani Mukherjee too has pledged to donate her eyes after she dies. She said, “Two eyes donated can light up the lives of two or even four blind people. It is a wonderful feeling to be part of the cause.”
