A student of the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE) in Hyderabad, Himank Bansal was beaten by a group of students in college and forced to chant “Allahu Akbar”.

A video of IBS College Shankerpally mandal in Ranga Reddy district students ragging the junior came to fore on November 11.

The students have been booked for attempt to murder after the video surfaced. Some of them were heard saying, “beat him till he dies”.

After the attack, Bansal approached the police stating that he was thrashed, abused and sexually assaulted.

The accused have been booked under several sections 307 for attempts to murder, 323 for voluntarily causing hurt, 450 for trespass in order to commit an offence, 506 for criminal intimidation, and section 34 for the common intention of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The accused were also booked under Section 4 (i)(ii) of the Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act and an investigation has been launched.
