Ajay Devgn in an interview with TOI talked about the ever growing success of Drishyam 2 at the box office.

He said, “There are many variables for success and there are many, many variables for failure. While a great story told well brings 'joy', seeing stars enact the roles also brings credibility to the table.

He points out that post-pandemic there have been sporadic hits and it’s a worrying trend.

“It is only the box office that can save the trade—be it us—actors, producers, directors, exhibitors, distributors, so on and so forth,” he said.

He said, he gave many creative inputs to director Abhishek Pathak during the making of the film.

Ajay Devgn’s character in the film, Vijay Salgaonkar is a lot like him, “Every man’s instinct whether he is a prince or a commoner is to keep his family’s interests first; to keep his family safe,” says the actor.

When asked, “will Mohanlal feature in a cameo in the Hindi versions of Drishyam in the future?”

The Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam actor said, I admire Mohanlal. I have worked with him in Company. And, I have utmost regard and respect for him.”
