Congress Veteran leader Salman Khurshid has called Rahul Gandhi an ascetic who is doing tapasya. BJP National Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia that the Congress can go to any length to get votes.

Referring to Ramayana, he said Lord Rama's 'khadau' is not able to reach places, Bharat takes the 'khadau' and goes to places. "Like that, we have carried the 'khadau' in Uttar Pradesh. Now that 'khadau' has reached Uttar Pradesh. Ram ji (Rahul Gandhi) will also come," he added.

BJP's Shehzad Poonawalla reacted and attacked the Congress for making this comparison. "Salman Khurshid equates Rahul Gandhi to Bhagwan Shri Ram, himself to Bharat!! Shocking! Would he dare compare anyone to other God of other religions? After denying Ram ji existence, blocking Ram Mandir now insult of Hindu Astha! Does Janeudhari Rahul agree with this?"

 Bharat Jodo yatra is on a pause for a few days for maintenance work. His pausing the yatra also sparked off a debate about whether he would be going for a trip abroad.

Bharat Jodo Yatra will resume on January 9 and travel to the rest of North India.
