Benedict XVI, the Pope Emeritus, has died in Vatican City at the age of 95

He was the first pontiff in almost 600 years to resign his position rather than hold office for life.

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI passed away on Saturday at 9:34 AM in his residence at the Vatican's Mater Ecclesiae Monastery.

For several days his health had worsened due to advancing age.

He once said, “Truth is not determined by a majority vote.”

He also said, “We are not some casual and meaningless product of evolution. Each of us is the result of a thought of God.”
