Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale, 82, died of multiple organ failure in Pune's Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital on Saturday.

The Agneepath star was on ventilator support and his health showed improvement on Friday, reports say.

On Saturday, Bollywood stars like Ajay Devgn, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Riteish Deshmukh and others mourned the death.

Gokhale’s career as a film and TV artiste spanned 40 years.

His most notable works are Commissioner M. S. Gaitonde in Agneepath, and Pundit Darbar in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

Gokhale’s most acclaimed Marathi films include, Bala Gau Kashi Angai, Kalat Nakalat, Lapandav, and Aamhi Bolato Marathi.

His family-run charitable foundation provides financial support for disabled soldiers, children of lepers, and education of orphan children.
