Indian cities dominate the list of over 7,300 cities covered in the report, with six Indian cities in the top 10, 14 in the top 20, 39 in the top 50, and 65 in the top 100.
The report also highlights the economic cost of air pollution in India as $150 billion, with the transportation sector responsible for 20-35% of the PM 2.5 pollution.
The report notes that 72 of the top 100 polluted cities are in South Asia, including India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, and calls for full coordination to reduce pollution.
