Caught in the middle of this political fervour was Jamaal Khureshi, Yadav’s chauffeur, who unexpectedly found himself in the spotlight. Attempting to navigate through the jubilant crowd, Khureshi’s vehicle was momentarily trapped outside the BJP office.

When questioned by The New Indian about Yadav’s appointment as the new CM, Khureshi initially appeared befuddled but eventually confirmed his awareness of the news. “Haennn,” he responded with a puzzled expression, before admitting, “Haa mujhe pata hai (yes, I know)”.

When questioned by The New Indian about Yadav’s appointment as the new Chief Minister, Khureshi initially appeared befuddled but eventually confirmed his awareness of the news. With a puzzled expression, he responded, “Haennn,” before admitting, “Haa mujhe pata hai (yes, I know).”

Interestingly, he also revealed that he had not received formal communication about the development from anyone within the party. Additionally, he mentioned that he had not been able to directly communicate with Mohan Yadav at that point. “Abhi baat nahi hui hai (I have not been able to speak to him),” he disclosed, indicating a disconnect between the driver and his political employer during this pivotal moment.

The spontaneous and unexpected nature of the driver’s response mirrored the political intrigue surrounding the Chief Ministerial selection.

The decision, made during a meeting of party members and elected BJP MLAs, marked the end of Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s remarkable 18-year tenure as the state’s Chief Minister. The transition of power unfolded in the presence of three central observers: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, OBC Morcha Head K Laxman, and Secretary Asha Lakra.

Mohan Yadav, formerly the Minister for Higher Education in Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government, now steps into the shoes of the widely acclaimed “mama” of Madhya Pradesh politics. As the state holds its breath, the political dynamics are set for a fascinating turn under the new leadership, with supporters and critics alike eager to witness the trajectory of Yadav’s tenure.
