New Delhi: During a heavy rainstorm that lashed the entire city of Delhi, a video of protesting students at Rau’s Academy (Rajendra Nagar) went viral on several media platforms on Wednesday evening. In the video, they appeared to be making reels.

However, after a fact check by The New Indian, it was revealed that the students were only making videos, and someone else intentionally added a song to make it look like a reel. A student named Harshit contacted The New Indian and clarified that he was the boy seen in the video, but he did not make any reel. The video was being misused.

“This is me and my sister. We were raising slogans for justice for UPSC students. Listen to the original video. Someone edited it and made a reel by adding a song. They have misused it,” he said.

Harshit, who is from Rajasthan and lives in Delhi with his sister while preparing for the UPSC exam, explained that they came to the protest site together. Despite the heavy rain, they continued protesting on Wednesday evening when the video was recorded. Later, someone added a song to the video and made it viral.

Harshit mentioned that a few outsiders might have been involved in trying to disrupt the protest and give it a negative appearance. “The outsiders could be behind it. We didn’t make any reel; we were only protesting,” he added.

The students continue to protest outside Rau’s Academy despite the adverse weather. Three students lost their lives in the incident. The Delhi Police have lodged an FIR and arrested seven people in the case.
