NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement about the repealing of the three contentious farm laws was appreciated by all parties across the political spectrum.
While Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) supremo Parkash Singh Badal congratulated farmers and others behind the movement, he said one must now forget those who laid their lives to get these laws repealed. “My heartfelt tribute to all those who laid their lives to ensure the farm laws were repealed. Their sacrifice will be written in history books and remain in the hearts of all Punjabis and farmers.”
Punjab Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Partap Bajwa hailed the farmers and their families for staying put at Delhi’s Tikri and Ghazipur borders since the last one year.
“I welcome the decision of PM Modi to repeal farm laws. I congratulate all the farmers, their families sitting at Delhi borders, for showing their resilience for the last one year,” he said.
AAP MLA Kultar Singh congratulated each one of them who was involved in the protest against these “black laws” which have now been repealed.
What is unique about PM @narendramodi Ji's announcement is that he picked the special day of ‘Guru Purab’ to make this announcement. It also shows there is no other thought except the welfare of each and every Indian for him. He has shown remarkable statesmanship.

RJD MP Manoj Jha welcomed the government’s decision but said the larger message behind the withdrawal was that the government was not able to arrogantly implement the laws despite getting it passed it in the Parliament.
The withdrawal of farm laws has sent out a message that a strong protest like this can overturn the government’s decision. Another message is that the government cannot arrogantly pass a bill without seeking opinion
BJP’s firebrand leader Kapil Mishra heaped praise on PM Modi for showing statesmanship even as he demanded Khalistani agents to come forth and not hide their identities behind the farmers’ movement.
Modiji has again shown that for him the nation comes first. Under the garb of farmer protest, those who wanted to spread Khalistani agenda need to reveal their faces as they won’t be allowed to function like this any longer. I feel this is a historic decision, only a big leader can come forward and announce something like this
Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi described the reversal as ‘win against injustice and arrogant government’. “Congratulations its win against the injustice, the farmers of the nation have compelled the arrogant govt to bend down through satyagraha.”
Earlier, Gandhi had said “Mark my words, the government would be forced to rollback the laws.”
The three farm laws that were passed last year had triggered a widespread agitation by farmer groups especially at Delhi’s doorsteps.
