UTTARKASHI: As the American Auger machine malfunctioned on the 14th day of the rescue operation at the Silkyara Bend-Barkot tunnel at Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, drilling has halted once again to rescue the 41 workers.
Arnold Dix, an international tunneling expert, told reporters that the auger machine was “finished” and of no use after getting stuck inside one of the structures during the drilling.”There are no other auger machines to work it through. We won’t be using another auger machine for the drilling. We will go back to basics and start drilling manually,” Dix said.
