US-India Strategic Partnership Forum bolsters board with global industry leaders

NEW DELHI: The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) has expanded its Board of Directors, welcoming global leaders: Joe Ucuzoglu, Deloitte Global CEO; Raj Shah, Co-CEO, MSI Surfaces; Alex Rogers, President of Global Affairs and Qualcomm Technology Licensing for Qualcomm Incorporated; and Prashant Ruia, Director, Essar Capital.

Joe Ucuzoglu, who assumed the role of Deloitte Global CEO in January 2023, succeeded Punit Renjen and joined USISPF’s Board, bringing extensive experience in steering Deloitte’s global operations and fostering impactful results for clients and communities.

Raj Shah, President and Co-CEO at MSI Surfaces, contributes to USISPF with his role in a leading importer and distributor of construction materials, enhancing the relationship between the US and India.

Alex Rogers, a key executive at Qualcomm, reinforced the technology dimension of the partnership. His responsibilities include government and public affairs, export compliance, corporate responsibility, and leadership in Qualcomm’s patent licensing business.

Mukesh Aghi, USISPF President, highlighted the significance of these appointments, emphasising the growing synergy in US-India ties, especially in critical technologies, trade relations, and collaboration in emerging domains such as hydrogen and biofuels.

“2023 was a monumental year, with the success of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit and President Biden’s visit to India for a successful G20 Summit. With our ever-expanding Board and new captains of industry and distinguished leaders from the private sector, USISPF is better positioned than ever to build on the commercial and geostrategic aspects of the partnership in 2024,” said Aghi.

Joe Ucuzoglu expressed enthusiasm for joining USISPF, emphasising its role in strengthening the US-India partnership and providing a vital platform for meaningful opportunities across business, government, and society.

Alex Rogers emphasised the unique position of the US and India in using technology for public good and economic growth. Qualcomm, having been integral to India’s digital revolution, stands ready to contribute to global digitisation efforts.

“The U.S. and India are uniquely positioned to use connectivity, processing, and artificial intelligence to advance the public good and stimulate economic growth,” said Alex.

USISPF Chairman John Chambers congratulated the new appointees, anticipating another successful year for the partnership. The additions of accomplished leaders underscore the commitment of Fortune 250 companies to fostering stronger relations and business pursuits between the US and India.

Prashant Ruia expressed his delight in joining USISPF, highlighting the shared commitment to advancing stronger economic ties between the US and India. His focus on sustainability and ESG aligns with the current diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Raj Shah acknowledged India’s integral role in manufacturing and service provision to the US, affirming the commitment to work with the USISPF Board to strengthen ties between the two countries.

“We look forward to working with the USISPF Board to continue to strengthen ties between the US and India,” expressed the Co-CEO.

These appointments come after a monumental year in US-India relations, with successful state visits by PM Modi and US President Joe Biden. The diverse expertise of the new board members positions USISPF for even greater success in 2024.

USISPF is an independent non-profit institution dedicated to strengthening the US-India partnership. It serves as a trusted partner for businesses, non-profit organisations, the diaspora, and the governments of India and the US, fostering collaboration and opportunities.
