US Senator Jon Ossoff met political leaders and industry leaders to discuss enhancing the US-India relationship during the first leg of his eight-day-long economic delegation tour.

Among the political leaders, Ossoff held a bilateral meeting with Poonam Mahajan to discuss their shared values and share ideas about the work they do to better the lives of their constituents.

Ossoff, a senator from the US state of Georgia, also met Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, to explore possible areas for collaboration and deepen economic ties between Georgia and Maharashtra.

Ossoff also met with Tata Sons chairman, Natarajan Chandrasekaran, to foster deeper economic ties and discuss foreign direct investment opportunities in Georgia in the areas of solar manufacturing and motor vehicles.

He also discussed economic priorities and explored areas of mutual interest with the Mahindra Group’s chairman, Anand Mahindra, and CEO and managing director, Dr Anish Shah. Tech Mahindra, a subsidiary of the Mahindra Group, employs nearly 600 people in Georgia.

Ossoff also met with Kotak Mahindra Bank’s managing director, Uday Kotak, to discuss the future of India’s economy and the global impact of the United States and India’s fiscal policies. He also met with Mumbai’s civil society leaders to discuss their work to improve lives in their communities.

Ossoff also participated in a wide-ranging discussion hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in India. During the meeting, he engaged with the India-based leadership of prominent companies headquartered, or maintaining a strong presence, in Georgia – including Lockheed Martin, MasterCard, UPS, and Westrock.

Earlier in June, Ossoff met with India’s Ambassador to the United States, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, to highlight opportunities for continued collaboration between the two countries – addressing the top concerns facing Georgia’s Indian diaspora.

Earlier this month, Ossoff also shared a video message to the Indian people to celebrate the country’s 75th anniversary of independence.
