WASHINGTON: For the first time since 2008, the White House will host the wedding reception of a member of a sitting President’s family.
Naomi Biden, the eldest granddaughter of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, a lawyer by profession, on Monday, announced her plans to organise her wedding reception at the historic executive mansion.
She is engaged to Peter Neal, a 24-year-old law student at the University of Pennsylvania. Neal belongs to Wyoming state in the western United States, as per US media reports.
In a tweet, Naomi said, “Peter and I are endlessly grateful to my Nana and Pop for the opportunity to celebrate our wedding at the White House. We can’t wait to make our commitment to one another official and for what lies ahead.”

The bride-to-be is the daughter of President Biden’s son Hunter, who is the eldest of his five children.
Naomi and Peter’s wedding is planned for November 19, 2022, as per a statement issued by the office of the First Lady, US media reports.
She met Peter in New York City on a date arranged by their mutual friend. The couple got engaged in 2021 when he proposed to her with a ring.

“The First Family, the couple, and their parents are still in the planning stages of the wedding festivities and look forward to announcing further details in the coming months,” First Lady Jill Biden’s office said in a statement, as per US Today.
It is not the first time that the historic site will host a reception for any family member of the sitting president. The last time such a function was held at the White House was in 2008 when then-President George W. Bush’s daughter Jenna held a reception for 600 people.
In 1971, Tricia Nixon, daughter of former President Richard Nixon organised her wedding ceremony at the White House.
