This decision comes after an investigation revealed that Khedkar had fraudulently availed additional attempts at the Civil Services Examination (CSE) by misrepresenting her identity.
NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has annulled the selection of Puja Khedkar as a trainee IAS officer and permanently barred her from taking future UPSC examinations.
This decision comes after an investigation revealed that Khedkar had fraudulently availed additional attempts at the Civil Services Examination (CSE) by misrepresenting her identity.
In an official statement, the UPSC disclosed that Khedkar, aged 34, had violated the rules of the CSE-2022 by faking her identity to bypass the limit on the number of permissible attempts. The commission issued a Show Cause Notice (SCN) to Khedkar on July 18, 2024, demanding an explanation for her actions.

Although she requested an extension until August 4 to respond, the UPSC granted her time only until July 30, emphasising that no further extensions would be allowed.
Despite the extended deadline, Khedkar failed to provide a satisfactory explanation, prompting the UPSC to cancel her provisional candidature and permanently debar her from all future UPSC examinations.
The Delhi Police Crime Branch has also been involved in the case, with Khedkar allegedly booked for misusing disability and Other Backward Class (non-creamy layer) quotas to secure her candidature. She faces charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including cheating, forgery, and using forged documents as genuine. Additionally, charges have been filed under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act and the Information Technology Act.
