NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh Police Constable recruitment exam, held on February 17 and 18, has been officially declared void due to a paper leak, according to an official order.
The cancellation has sparked concerns over the integrity of the examination process, leading to the decision to conduct a re-examination within the next six months. The specific date for the re-examination is yet to be announced.
The cancellation unfolded amidst a significant uproar, with the government taking swift action to address the situation. In a peculiar twist, an additional layer of controversy emerged as an admit card surfaced featuring Bollywood actor Sunny Leone’s photograph and name. Questions now arise about whether this was a red herring or a deliberate ploy within the broader context of the examination’s cancellation.

The use of Sunny Leone’s image in the admit card adds a bizarre layer to the controversy surrounding the cancelled exam. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRB) is now under scrutiny for both the leaked paper and the unusual appearance of the Bollywood actor’s photograph in the official examination documents.
Students from various parts of the state were protesting for cancelling the paper and re-exams. While addressing the situation, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath revealed that a high-level meeting with police and administrative officials led to the decision to annul the conducted exam.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), CM Yogi Adityanath announced, “UP Police constable civil police exams 2023 cancelled, orders given to re-conduct the exams within the next 6 months.”
CM Adityanath emphasised that there would be no compromise. He stated, “Those who play with the hard work of the youth will not be spared under any circumstances. Strictest action is certain to be taken against such unruly elements.”
The UP government has also issued an order to investigate the alleged irregularities and rigging in the examination of the Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (RO/ARO), not in the paper but at the government level.
“Candidates can complain till February 27. Before this, the Police Recruitment Board is also investigating the alleged rigging in the constable recruitment examination,” the order said.
