UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya lauds CM Adityanath, PM Modi amid rebel speculation

NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has lauded Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, declaring him the “best Chief Minister in the country.”

Maurya made these remarks while addressing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Mirzapur on Sunday, August 18. Maurya emphasized the effectiveness of the “double-engine” government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh.

“People know and believe that our double-engine government is doing the best work in the country since Independence,” Maurya stated. He further praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, “Is there any other leader like PM Modi in the world, and is there any other CM like Yogi Adityanath in the country?”

Maurya’s comments come amid ongoing speculation about potential dissent within the BJP following the recent Lok Sabha elections. However, his remarks strongly reinforced his support for both Yogi Adityanath and PM Modi, highlighting their roles in the state’s development.

Maurya’s message to the BJP workers was to strengthen the party at the grassroots level ahead of the by-polls for 10 assembly seats. He has been given the responsibility of Phulpur and Majhawan in Mirzapur district.

This praise follows a recent post in July on X (formerly Twitter) by the office of the Deputy CM, quoting Maurya as saying, “The organization is bigger than the government, the pain of the workers is my pain. No one is bigger than the organization, the workers are the pride.” This post was made after Maurya met with BJP President JP Nadda in Delhi, where Nadda also met with Uttar Pradesh BJP Chief Bhupender Chaudhary.

Keshav Prasad Maurya is currently serving his second term as the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He previously held the position of state BJP president in 2017 when the party secured a majority in the Assembly under Adityanath’s leadership. Although Maurya lost his seat in the 2022 Assembly elections, he continued to serve as Deputy CM and was later elected to the Legislative Council.
