As festivities unfold, scrutiny has arisen regarding potential conflicts of interest involving DM Durga Shakti Nagpal and her husband Abhishek Singh, a former IAS officer who resigned amid controversy in Uttar Pradesh. Singh appeared in a music video with B Praak in 2020, raising questions about whether there was any quid pro quo or misuse of position in organizing this festival.
While these allegations have surfaced, they have not overshadowed the festival’s success or the positive reception from attendees. The district administration has yet to address these concerns publicly, focusing instead on ensuring that the Mahotsav runs smoothly and achieves its goal of promoting local culture.
As the Lakhimpur Mahotsav continues through its scheduled events, it remains a focal point for both celebration and community engagement in Uttar Pradesh.
