Union Minister Anurag Thakur Dedicates 108 Motorcycles To Himachal Police On Women’s Day

HAMIRPUR (HIMACHAL PRADESH): Union Minister and local MP, Anurag Thakur launched ‘Mahila Suraksha Kavach’ under which 108 motorcycles were dedicated to the state police on the occasion of the International Women’s Day on Tuesday.

The 108 motorcycles, donated by Hero MotoCorp, will increase police mobility and help in patrolling, thus ensuring safety and security of women in the state, the minister said.

The motorcycles will be distributed to the police teams of Chamba, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, Kangra, Sirmaur and Mandi districts.

Addressing an event here, Thakur said, “The government of India has been taking continuous steps to ensure the safety of women. This initiative of distributing 108 motorcycles to the police is a step further in this direction. This will increase the confidence of women. They will be able to come out of their homes with more confidence, paving the way for their advancement.”

Olympian and Indian women’s hockey team captain Rani Rampal, Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu and famous actress Yami Gautam, and former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal were among those present at the event.
